New EMS Station - Sunday, September 04, 2005
This spring brought good news for Hillsborough residents! The Township Committee arranged for a $1 million donation from the Van Cleef family (the developers of Country Classics) towards the construction of a new EMS building. The new 16,000 square foot facility is slated to be built on the site of the current EMS substation on Hamilton Road. The existing main building on East Mountain Road will remain open as a substation after the new facility is complete. The new headquarters will allow the Squad to continue to meet the needs of our growing population and will significantly shorten response times to the eastern and northern portions of the Township where most of the growth is taking place. As former Mayor Dr. Steven Sireci noted in announcing the donation, "This new station will save precious minutes, and minutes can mean the difference between life and death.

50 Years of EMS - Sunday, September 04, 2005
May 1955 was a milestone in Hillsborough history when the 16 charter members of the Hillsborough Rescue Squad began providing service in a donated 1937 Packard ambulance.
May 1988 was another milestone when Hillsborough became the first community in Somerset County to address the problem of too few daytime volunteers. The nonprofit Hillsborough Emergency Medical Services Corporation (HEMSCorp) was formed and paid EMS crews began responding to daytime emergencies.
From our humble start in 1955 we have grown to one of the largest EMS organizations in New Jersey. Today, a combination paid and volunteer staff of over 100 people provides the best in reliable coverage while minimizing costs.
